Background: For this activity, you will reflect on one of the three articles on which this week’s lectures are based. You may pick the one that most appeals to or resonates with your own experiences, OR you can focus on whichever one is the most interesting and reflect on how your experiences may differ from the members or people discussed in the study. The three choices are:Gibson & Papa, 2000 (on blue collar workers and org identification)Clair, 1996 (on the ways everyday communication shapes the way we understand “real work”)Hymlo, 2006 (on the impact of gendered messages in the media)The task: Consider the messages discussed in the article you chose. Write a short paper (2-3 paragraphs) discussing the ways these messages relate to—or differ from—messages you personally received about work and career.
