How can you ensure that you behave ethically with patients and/or research participants in your future professional practice?

Select an historical case in which humans were used as test subjects unethically (you may use the Tuskegee study, the Nazi experiments or the AZT trials or you may select another study). Then choose one of the three major codes of ethics discussed in class: the Nuremberg Code, the Declaration of Helsinki and the Belmont Report. Briefly describe the case and present three ways in which the case violated the Nuremberg Code, the Declaration of Helsinki or the Belmont Report (quote from the document you select clearly identifying which document you are using and then state how the case was in violation of the tenants of the document). The essay should conclude with a personal and/or professional reflection on the case. What have you learned about ethics and health care and/or research? How can you ensure that you behave ethically with patients and/or research participants in your future professional practice?
