Purpose: Political socialization refers to the process by which an individual develops their political values as a result of external factors: who raised us, what we believe, what we came to experience, what we have come to learn both formally and informally about the world. It informs our stances on political issues whether we are conscious of them or not. In this assignment, you will detail your own process of political socialization and how the current pandemic has impacted your beliefs, values and views on politics. You will begin in this paper the process of thinking about the policies that have been enacted since the start of the pandemic and weighing whether they are helpful/necessary as well as adequate in helping dealing with the issues we are facing.
