The teacher candidate will read a young adult novel independently. The book we will use for this assignment will be a Sharon Draper self-selected book of choice.You will then develop a lesson plan that helps guide students throughout the novel. You will need to differentiate your lesson plan to meets the needs of ELL/ESE students using a balanced literacy approach (reading, writing, listening, & speaking). – The following is to be included in your lesson plan: novel planning guide. – Pick a Florida Standard (NGSSS, cpalms.com), overall learning goal, and 3 objectives to your lesson plan. – Theme(s): Now that you have read the book, pick 1 theme will and plan your lesson to help students grasp to gain the true essence of the novel. – Before the Novel: How will you activate students’ schema to ensure that they have a foundation on which to build, and have a way of connecting the novel into one cohesive whole?
