Uncategorized Assignment-helpResearch Paper Instructions: How do we want to live well together in the Covid-19 pandemic? The format of this assignment will be a traditional research paper. In this paper, you will be able to do some research on a pandemic issue of your choice (for example, childcare and the pandemic; anxiety and the pandemic; medical education and the pandemic) and focus on the course topic: How do we want to live well together in the Covid-19 pandemic. You will consider how best to consult and communicate with, and mobilize people, through an action plan that you will develop. As we have seen throughout the course, pandemic issues (e.g., dating and the pandemic; elder care and the pandemic) and the focus on How do we want to live well together in the Covid-19 pandemic can be diverse, involving issues and people from all kinds of disciplines and communities. The possibilities are near endless! 1) Consult and cite a minimum of 2 NEW sources of which at least one should be scholarly (sources that were not assigned during the course) regarding your selected pandemic issue. 2) Next, develop an action plan. Consider reasonable ways of communicating and implementing solutions for your chosen issue, with a focus on How do we want to live well together in the Covid-19 pandemic, keeping the people in mind who you think may need to be consulted and mobilized. Consider as many contexts (SDH, gender, etc.) as are appropriate, and cite in addition to the 2 NEW sources at least 2 sources from the first three weeks of our class, such as social determinants of health, issues of culture, gender, power, health communication, etc. Identify the discipline(s) that you choose for your own approach (Science [which one?]? Art? Education? Other? Some combination?).Consulting, communicating with, and mobilizing people/communities in the pursuit of health and wellbeing so that we may live well together in a pandemic provides challenges and opportunities. Do people whom you want to reach through your action plan share your understanding of what you think are appropriate needs? Do you speak their language? Are they literate and can read your handouts – or may images or posters or photographs or art or performances be a better approach to convey information? Should you consult with Elders? Persons of trust? Influencers? The solutions that you may present may not be accepted well, or not even considered (especially if you provide any solutions in a top-down fashion). Some or all of the people you may want to reach may well have different ideas about health, well-being, physical distancing, freedom, responsibility, culture, conventions, world views, gender, age, abilities, etc. If you are suggesting “more money from the government”, be realistic: where should that money come from? Health Care costs have gone through the roof, and because of the pandemic, economies are in great difficulties. As you develop a concrete action plan, find a balance between breadth and depth: if you are thinking of many solutions, or of many components to one solution, then provide a general overview first (= breadth) and then choose one to three solutions (or one to three components of one solution) in detail (= depth), discussing both pros and cons of the specific solution(s) (or components to a solution) in question. Solutions are often not easy to come by and you are asked to be as realistic as you can. More specifically, here are your basic tasks: a)Pick a Pandemic issue that interests you (e.g., anxiety and the pandemic; medical education and the pandemic) as a problem in the question How can we live well together in the Covid-19 pandemic.b)After your short Introduction (not more than about half a page), provide a Background/Literature Review of your research on the pandemic issue that you picked (not more than 2 pages, minimum 2 NEW sources, at least one scholarly source you have researched. You may use sources from the course but only in addition to your new sources).c)Next, in a Communication and Mobilization section, DISCUSS the range of the possible challenges and opportunities for an action plan for communicating the solutions(s) that you may be suggesting for the people/communities involved. The sources that you may have consulted for your pandemic issue of interest may themselves not discuss the challenges and opportunities of communicating solutions – but you need to go into as much detail as you can (about 3-4 pages, including a minimum of 2 sources from the first two weeks of course). d) Finally, in a short Conclusion (about half a page), sum up what you have said in your paper (but now on a more integrated, higher level) and discuss possible limitations and future directions. Find a pithy concluding sentence.
