What is the role of feminism in contemporary art?

For this week, I’ve assigned each group member a different set of reading responses from artists about the state of the art world for female artists [with the exception of 2 people from B1 because you have a bigger group]. I encourage you to read a number of the responses, all featured in a special issue of ArtNews, but for your discussion board post, I’d like you to respond to those that were assigned to you. How do you understand the comments within your assigned readings? What do your assigned artists say about the state of the art world? Based on these responses, what is the role of feminism in contemporary art? Please take a brief look at the art practice of your assigned artists – do you read their work as feminist? What does it mean for a contemporary work to be feminist?
