Why did St. Thomas Aquinas believe that humans can’t obtain happiness?

1. St. Augustine believed that a fetus became a person when it received a soul. According to his beliefs, this occurred at 40 days for males, and 90 for females. And he thought that abortion is fine before that period. How would he be viewed today with these ideas? If he were alive now, what would be his place in society?2. Why did St. Thomas Aquinas believe that humans can’t obtain happiness? Do you agree or disagree? And do you have to be a Christian to obtain happiness?3. St. Thomas Aquinas talks about “natural law”, or rules of conduct known from human nature which he said expreses the will of God. He also wrote that marriage should be forever, and between one man and one woman, and that homosexuality and suicide were wrong. How would he fit into our society today?
