Drawing, painting, photography, portrait. Drawing people of all culture, ethnicity, country.

Describe challenge(s) or barriers that you have faced in your pursuit of higher education. What motivated you to persist, and how did you overcome them? What is the evidence of your persistence, progress or success?

School was expensive. living expenses were a lot too. but I worked hard every day didn’t give up. Started at a community college and worked hard to receive merit scholarships, ot accepted into a 4-year art school for the artwork which helped to persist. Im from a poor south Asian country. Very few women and men in my country get the opportunity to receive an American education. So I never took it for granted.

How have your life experiences and educational background informed your understanding of the barriers facing groups that are underrepresented in higher education?

My life experiences are directly related because as a woman belonged in the barrier facing group until I decided to pursue Higher Education. Women are seen as weak counterparts in my country. The pay is not equal yet. There are many factors but the most important I think is the lack of education. I think the barrier facing groups need more opportunities so that they can help guide their communities in a direction that would help eradicate poverty and the lack of higher education.
