Write about if you think a personal essay should be about your own relationships to the literary, political, and artistic analyses of the subject of empire and identity. This assignment is not a review nor is it a summary of the work. You will write a personal essay connecting your lived experiences with at least two of our class readings. While this isn’t a strictly academic essay, I still expect you to demonstrate some degree of critical thinking and an academic approach to examining the texts and citing them properly. Please select at least two works from the class readings, and relate the themes of those readings to your lived experience for your personal reflection. Your work must be typed in twelve point, Times New Roman or Arial font, double-spaced with one-inch margins, and submitted as a hard copy. Please include page numbers, a title, your name, and a works cited page (MLA). You may use any of the course readings/texts from our course to complete your assignment.
