You might explore how a contemporary musician like Lil Nas X plays with imagery from Westerns in his music, dress, stage shows, and videos.As with any analytical essay, focusing in and studying a few (or even one) work(s) of art closely, and relying on close analysis over general claims, will be more effective. Further, keep in mind that your essay should have a clear and specific argument about the work(s) you are studying. The mere fact that a work relates to the genre or coursework is not enough. Why is the work worth studying? What is the “so what” (aesthetically, culturally, politically etc.) about your paper topic? Why should your reader care?
