In Fahrenheit 451 there are several characters that support the main character, Guy Montag. Summarize each character’s role in the story and how they help move the plot along. Then explain any similarities and/or differences by giving an in-depth analysis. For example, if you want to focus on Clarisse and Mildred, do not simply say one is young and one is older. Instead, explain more about WHY and HOW this age difference impacts both characters’ interactions and reactions in the story. In your character analysis, consider the following:What physical attributes do your characters share? Which are different? How do these attributes help tell the story?What is the main motivation of the character? Belonging? Individuality? Conformity? Knowledge? Other?What is the government’s goal in the story? The writer uses a clear compare/contrast organization pattern (either point by point or block) to analyze the characters.10The essay is coherent: ideas are connected and the writer uses appropriate transitions between paragraphs and within paragraphs which allows the reader to smoothly move from one idea to the next.5The concluding paragraph restates the thesis nicely but does not exactly repeat it. The writer also suggests how these characters play an important role in telling the story of Fahrenheit 451.
