Your medical center campus encompasses a 490-bed 7-story hospital, 7 Medical Office Buildings, one nursing home, 3 parking structures, 2 loading docks and 9 parking lots. Your hospital has various entrances including the ED, main entrance of the hospital (where your 24-hour pharmacy is located) and roughly 17 other entrances for staff and patients. Staff who work in the hospital frequently use food delivery services (Doordash, Grubhub etc) who bring orders to the units. Your medical office buildings have one entry point each.In response to the current pandemic, you must create a plan that minimizes people who come inside the hospital (Specifically the ED) and ensures those who do, are free of COVID related symptoms. This plan should include a no visitor policy that has two exceptions: family of end of life patients and newborn babies. Your county’s Public Health Officer mandated level one masks for anyone who leaves home for essential functions, in addition to CDC mask guidance recommending level 2 masks for health care workers on units but not directly involved in patient care and N95 masks for those who perform invasive procedures, therefore your plan should include sourcing and distribution of consumables related to PPE.Ensure that your plan explains the process for ED triage and testing of individuals who present with COVID symptoms, as well as a path from the ED to ICU for COVID+ patients using path of travel assumptions you decide.
