Describe the Minimum Wage.

On July 18, 2019, the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 231 – 199, approved legislation today to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour.by 2025. It is the first time Congress has approved an increase in the minimum wage in more than 10 years. However, the Republican led Senate is less like to approve increasing the minimum wage to $15. However there has been a growing push in minimum states for higher minimum. Twenty-nine states enacted legislation to incrementally raise their minimum wage above the federal level. There is evidence that local governments have also been pushing to increase minimum wages in states that are against such measures. For example in 2014, the Seattle City Council voted to raise its minimum wage to $15 which at the time was the highest in the U.S.While these policy interventions are politically popular, is it possible for the minimum wage be too high. Pretend that you are running for political office in a municipality or state with a manufacturing and service-based economy but also has a strong conservative base as well.
