Overview: Create a wiki page for one Washington, DC protest, march, or activist movement.
Choose a protest/march to add to the wiki. **Please check the wiki before you decide – If someone else has already posted a page about the march you chose, you must pick a different march.
Write a wiki post that is a minimum of 200 words about the protest/march you have chosen. Each post should include the following categories of required information:
WHAT – What issue did the protest/march address?
WHEN – What were the dates of the protest/march?
WHERE – What area of Washington, DC did the march occur in?
WHY – What led to the protest/march? Why were the protesters/marchers upset?
WHO – Who were some of the leaders of the protest/march?
CITATIONS – Include a list of the places you found information for your post. You must include one source that was not in the assigned reading for this week.
Click on the link to the class wiki to create a page for your protest. If you wrote the wiki post in another program, copy and paste your post into the page you just created. It is also ok to create the post directly in the wiki. You do not need to leave a copy of your post here on BlackBoard. I will read your post in the wiki and then leave a grade for you here in BlackBoard.
Contribute to another page on the wiki, adding the following information:
HOW – What actions were taken during the protest/march?
OUTCOME – What happened after the protest/march? Did it cause any changes in society or law? What were the changes?
Part of your grade on this assignment will be on your written English. It is recommended that you write a draft of your wiki page first, before creating it in the actual wiki, so that you can make sure your spelling and grammar is correct.
Your post should be informational and educational – similar to posts in Wikipedia.
All references should be listed at the end of your wiki entry AND hyperlinked in the text. For an example see Wikipedia – March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom
Feel free to add photos and links to videos. This is not required for your wiki post this week but will be included as a requirement later in the semester.
