You think there is probably a better way for all the franchises inyour district to handle this issue so customers—and sales revenue—are not lost.You recently conducted an in-house survey and 300 survey cards were collected. You want topresent a report with an objective and balanced analysis of alternatives and a recommendedcourse of action for customer waiting lines. If you have done a good job, a majority will agreewith you and you can implement your recommended alternative.This is important because the district franchise agreement states that a change like this needsthe support of all the owners before you can implement your recommendation.**As part of the project, you need to define your busy times. Although major business projects ofteninvolve long and finely detailed reports, shorter projects (e.g., small events and progressupdates) often use a shorter reporting style. There is a memo report example at the endof this document for you to reference. It is shorter than what your final written reportwill be, but it does give you an idea of the formatting to use.Company HeaderAt the top of the first page in the middle, insert the McDonald’s contact information andlogo if you find one. Make up an address for the location of your store.Memo HeaderThen insert the To, From, Date, and Subject (left-justified). This memo is to the DistrictFranchise Owners and from you.Number of PagesMemo reports may exceed one page. Your report will probably be 2-5 pages includingall the graphics. For reports over a page, all subsequent pages begin with a headerjustified to the left containing the recipient’s name, date, and page number.HeadingsThe body of the report is divided into sections using headings. You will have at leastthree major headings (one for each of your major points). Subheadings may also beused if appropriate.SpacingAll text is single spaced. Use left-justified and ragged-right margins. Double spacebetween paragraphs.ParagraphsThe first line of paragraphs are not indented. The only indentations should be for middleparagraphs and bulleted or numbered lists. Keep paragraphs to 6-8 lines. Use thisdocument as a guide.Graphic ElementUse at least 1 graphic element in your report (e.g., chart, graph, table). A picture doesnot count. Insert the graphic within the text of the report rather than at the end. Youare not to cut and paste one from another source. You are to create your own graphic.And remember to title, date, and source all your graphics.Writing StyleBe concise, clear, and complete. While this is a short report proposal about a better lineset-up, you still need to give the Franchise Owners all the information they need tomake a decision. Write with the “you-attitude,” especially for this persuasive report sothat you connect with the other owners.SourcesYou needed to use at least 2 internet sources. Use MLA formatting in the Works Citedsection of your report (after your signature block) and for the in-text citationsthroughout your report. I will be checking all the reports for plagiarism so be sure yougive credit where credit is due throughout the report.LengthThe length of your report will depend on the depth of your analysis. I will be looking forcompleteness so be sure to include all the relevant information needed by the otherowners to give their approval for a new line set-up.Prescreen Job ApplicantsMany companies offer employment only after a candidate’s background has been checked.Just the mention of a background check is sometimes enough to make candidates withsomething to hide remove themselves from consideration.Update the Employee HandbookAn effective employee handbook tells employees what to do when they suspect or witnessworkplace violence. This handbook should also include a way for employees toanonymously report their suspicions.Train Managers to Recognize Red-Flag BehaviorsThis involves training managers to recognize red-flag behaviors which can signal potentialworkplace violence. Red-flag behaviors include an increasing number of arguments withcoworkers, extreme changes in behavior, and statements that indicate potentialdepression, family issues, or financial problems. Bullying, harassing, and bringing a firearmto work also indicate a potential for workplace violence.I recommend that we begin prescreening job candidates because it is most feasible.
