Students can fulfill the Writing Assignment #1 required for ARS 394 by following the instructions note below and writing a paper of 900 (minimum!) – 1,000 words in length, complete with images.1) Select one pair of artworks posted on the PDF entitled “Artwork Pairs for Selection.”2) Both works of art are of the type (two bowls, two Qur’an folios, etc.3) Both works of art were created in within approximately 100 years of each other,however, they may have been made in a different place.4) Although both works are very similar, their materials and/or techniques of manufacture and embellishment may be different.5) This is not a research paper however, you will find it helpful to read about the works of art and their materials to compose your assignment. All of these artworks are in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and I have included the website link for each object below the images.
