You will be asked to discuss ways in which you would help the family [client]. Discuss various steps used in helping the family. Include possible assessment(s) used with the family, treatment approaches, techniques (i. e. motivational interviewing), suggested treatment goals, objectives, and interventions. Please be creative in your responses. There are no definitive “right” answers. Use your book and other resources to help with this assignment. Case studies are designed to help you test your ability to think through situations involving substance abuse treatment and other issues in the family. Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length, typed, double-spaced with your group members’ names, date, and section number on it. See the case studies below. *Please have one group member submit the assignment for the group. Make sure to cite your work and provide a reference list for your sources.* Case Study 3Geri Mason is a 38-year-old African American female. Her son, Gabe, is 17 years old anda senior in high school. Geri’s husband, Joe, is in hospice. Gabe knows that his father issick, but he does not know the extent of his illness. After several weeks in hospice, Mr.Mason passes away from a brain tumor. Gabe starts to become withdrawn and displaysmajor problems in school. Mrs. Mason is concerned about her son [especially since he isa senior in high school], and she is also concerned about herself. She has started to feelvery overwhelmed, and she has had anxiety attacks. She goes to the doctor and he givesher something to sleep. Neither Mrs. Mason nor Gabe has discussed Mr. Mason since hisdeath. They both immediately started to get back into the “swing of things” without anyinterventions or help. One day at work, Mrs. Mason has a “break down”. Her supervisortold her to take some time off, so that she can take care of herself. Mrs. Mason decides toget some counseling for herself and son. She calls you for an appointment. You do aninitial intake with her, and you schedule an appointment to see her and her son. Whenthey arrive for the appointment, you notice Gabe with his head down, and his mothervery exasperated. When they sit down for counseling, Gabe states, “I don’t know why Iam here. She is the one who needs counseling, not me!” Immediately, Mrs. Mason beginsto cry. After she stops crying, you are able to start the session.Questions to consider:1.
