Uncategorized Assignment-helpAs previously stated, the US government serves the purpose of providing for the common defense and insuring domestic tranquility. A government and means of defense must first exist in order to protect. In any society, there are threats of danger from outside the society and from within the society. Both an external defense and an internal defense are necessary in order for a country to hold onto its freedoms. Studies show that police presence and interference lowers homicide and crime rates across the board. The current defend the police movement wants to take power away from the police and give it to the people. As seen in the last few months, power can very easily be abused. It is important that the means of defense do not become corrupt. If power is placed into the hands of those that are corrupt and have bad intentions, freedom can very easily be stripped away. Taking a look at nationwide events is very difficult. Stories tend to change from one interpretation to the next. Getting unbiased, unfiltered information is difficult to come by. It is important that every individual evaluate all the facts before they choose to stand for either side of a movement. For example, the tragic death of George Floyd had the country turned upside down in a matter of days. The story portrayed was of a man who, despite cooperating with police, was murdered in cold blood by racist police officers. It wasn’t until months after the initial story had broke that the footage from one of the officer’s bodycams was released. In the footage, George Floyd is clearly seen stating that he can’t breathe long before the officer knelt on his neck. The autopsy report showed a lethal amount of Fentanyl in his system. One of the many symptoms of Fentanyl is respiratory depression and difficulty breathing. That does not mean that the officers are innocent. It does, however, change everything about the story. Did George Floyd die because an officer cut off his air flow or did he die due to the lethal amount of Fentanyl in his system? Or was it a combination of the two? In conclusion, Police protection and military protection is a vital part of a prosperous society. The world is full of good and bad people. Unfortunately, it cannot be decided whether a person is good or bad very easily. That being said, there are good and bad people in every society, every institution, every movement, and every group. To label an entire group based on the actions of some within the group is inaccurate and morally wrong. Fentanyl Side Effects: Common, Severe, Long Term. (2020, August 18).
