Further, the country has been facing nationwide racial unrest and a fight for power in America’s Supreme Court. The participants include; Kamala Harris, a 55-year-old woman aspiring to become the first female VP in America’s history. According to political analysts, Kamala will be questioned about her record while serving as California’s attorney general. The vice-presidential debate is crucial, as the two debaters are both potential future presidential candidates. Mike Pence frequently projects a yes man persona to an assertive president. In this debate, he must appear as a strong leader ready to take over presidential roles if necessary. Americans no longer trust the electoral following the recent events that have given voters cause for skepticism. Without democracy, the legitimacy of the electoral process is questioned. Voters believe the election will be unfair because of three major threats: voter suppression, dirty tricks, and electoral incompetence. The three risks are a threat to voters’ confidence in having a safe and fair election process. When we talk about voter suppression, people lack confidence in the process following what has happened over the last voting processes. For instance, the Republicans have made it harder for people to vote, particularly those that are likely to vote for Democrats. The threat undermines voter’s confidence because Republicans believe that democrats are either stealing or cheating elections. Voter fraud is common in urban areas, especially areas with minority voters, who are Democrats. Talking of electoral incompetence, there are areas where elections are facilitated in an incompetent way. A good example involved Brenda Snipes, who was in charge of Broward County in Florida. During the election, she failed to send 58,000 ballots by mail, which had been requested. In another instance, she left the Medical marijuana initiative off the voting process. Due to these incidences, she was forced out of the office. Such examples depict electoral incompetence,
