1) Debussy: Girl with the Flaxen Hair (1b) because the melodies are shorter than those in Afternoon of a Faun so the students will follow it more easily. OR 1) Debussy: Afternoon of a Faun (1a) because the beautiful orchestral colors will engage the students more than just listening to a piano. For Stravinsky you might write: 2) Stravinsky: Rite of Spring (2a) because it has rhythmic excitement to engage the class. OR 2) Stravinsky: Pulcinella (2b) because it sounds more traditional and so will be easier for the students to grasp.
