For your final essay assignment, you will take at least two of the works that we have read this semester, place it into historical/cultural context and then discuss how all of this might be applied or be useful to your future studies. Discuss how these readings have helped make you a more enlightened student and member of society as a whole. In other words, what are some the “life lessons” that can be drawn from the readings we have discussed this semester?For example, if you are a business student, you might choose a work from the Arthurian legends to discuss how these “codes” still shape business etiquette or policy, and then discuss how your selected work helped you better understand this. If you aren’t quite sure of your major or career, you could think about how course readings might apply to future courses that you know you will take, such as psychology or history or even science!Essays should be formatted in MLA style, be double spaced, contain an original title, and should utilize outside sources. Essays will be evaluated on content, organization, synthesis of ideas, and on formatting and grammar/sentence structure.
