Please read Mohanty’s “Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses” (the first Chapter in our text book), and “Under Western Eyes” Revisited : Feminist Solidarity through Anticapitalist Struggles.” (the last chapter in our text book). Outline Mohanty’s arguments in each of these chapter, discuss changes in her thinking and arguments, and why these changes happened. Discuss Mohanty’s suggested strategies for bringing about change (including in relation to gender inequality and other forms of inequality and injustice).You will need to cite other references discussing relevant issues. Feel free to choose readings we have covered during the Semester. For example, we discussed the theory of intersectionality earlier in the Semester. Has this theory influenced Mohanty’s thinking?
