Discuss the changes in the practice of art and design during the Industrial Revolution: how did the language used to describe artists and designers change, what forms of New Media were introduced, and what new ways of viewing (and reproducing) artworks were developed?Describe the role and influence of Academic Institutions and professional art critics throughout the periods we have been studying: what concepts and categories were formalized, and what attempts were made to shape public opinion and/or artistic practice?Guidelines/Requirements:Your answer should briefly summarize what you have learned from each of the various sources to which you have been introduced in this class (articles, videos, lectures, etc.).Your answer should also include examples of art that are relevant to your discussion; however, you may use examples not shown in this class (if so, please provide images).The essay should be approximately 4-6 pages long (though longer is acceptable).A bibliography is not required unless you use sources from outside this course.
