You can use my Intro paragraph and adjust it as necessary: On June 24th, 2022 Roe vs Wade was overturned, a ruling that was established in 1973 by the US Supreme Court, that a woman’s right to an abortion before the fetus is born is protected by the Constitution. It was established that a woman can use that right during the first trimester at her own pace. This decision permits governments to control a woman’s access to abortion during the second trimester, but not entirely prohibit it until the third trimester, by then all abortions can be restricted by the state. Today, states are permitted to enact their abortion laws, one in three women live in states where abortion is either illegal or extremely limited. States that forbid abortion at any stage of pregnancy also impose criminal penalties on individuals who carry out or attempt to carry out an abortion. After decades of protection, the United States of America has taken away the freedom to have safe abortions. This decision has severely reversed the nation’s progress toward women’s rights in healthcare, particularly for women of color, low-income women, and children able to bear children.
