A discussion paper addressing a first-person account/memoir on the experience of trauma and recovery. Students should utilize the reaction paper to describe and discuss the individual, interpersonal, and cultural phenomena addressed by the author, to describe the major themes, and to discuss the implications of the book for our understanding of psychological trauma. Papers should be approx. 5 to 7 double-spaced typed pages in length, with references cited in APA style.This assignment is intended to be mainly discussions of your reactions to the materials. It will also be helpful to include a focus upon the major trauma themes, e.g., the impact of the trauma experience upon the individual(s) – cognitive, emotional, behavioral, interpersonal, etc., their processes of coping and adjustment/recovery, aspects of their stories reflecting resilience and post-traumatic growth, and etc.
