This tool can be used effectively to promote patient health and also to advance various issues of the professional nursing platform. Nurses work tirelessly to form positive patient relationships and protect and advocate for their patients. Unfortunately when social media is used inappropriately, it can negatively impact this relationship of mutual trust and violate patient privacy. The purpose of the assignment is to review the literature about social media use in nursing and healthcare, examine social media policy statements from the nursing profession and nursing education, and develop a social media policy.
