DO A SURVEY OF HISTORIC COSTUME.

1. prior to watching the movie ,complete background reading so you’re familiar with the time period or culture depicted in the film. Note the time period of the production setting. Pick (2) characters , 1 male & 1 female observe the clothing patterns of these characters. not the names and roles of the characters Prepare a written description of 3 complete costume changes. a. description of the overall silhouette(s), types, colors, and design motifs of fabrics used for apparel items. b. description of accessories, foundation garments, hairstyles, headdresses, and other details.c. the type of role or activity for which the costume change was used ( such as dancing, receiving subjects at court, battle, or other activities).d. discussion of the social class or position of the character and how his or her costume reflects and supports it (or fails to do so).4. include sketches or copies of illustrations of each costume change identified in Step 3.. if possible, obtain electronic versions of the illustrations .5.Examine the similarities and differences between clothing worn by the selected characters and that worn by other characters in the production.6. examine similarities and differences between apparel worn by the selected principal characters in the production and the typical clothing of the time period as presented by costume historians.Use primary sources when available and / or quality secondary resources that accurately depict clothing styles and information on the period. COMPARE EACH OF THE FOLLOWING FACTORS: a. overall silhouette(s) b.types, colors, and design motifs of fabrics used for apparel c. style features of garment d. accessory items e. hairstyles and headdress forms.Include sketches, photocopies, or illustrations of clothing styles recognized by costume historians as typical for the time period .
