This assignment asks you to read the article “How to Map Your Network”. When completing this assignment, think about EVERYONE you know from anywhere (e.g., friends, family, coworkers, classmates, teachers, etc.). Be as thorough and as detailed as possible when you answer the questions. I hope this is more than simply an assignment, but it can also be helpful to your career development! Make sure you don’t confuse the concept of Social networks and social media (e.g., LinkedIn, facebook). Social networks refer to how people are connected (like the picture above). Some people are better connected, and they often get access to more opportunities and resources; some are more isolated and may have limited access to opportunities. The purpose of this assignment is to help you better understand your own network, perform a diagnosis, and plan for next steps. You will NOT be graded on how well your current social networks are; rather, you will be graded on how well you understand your current network (whether it’s large or small, simple or complicated) and how well you plan to improve your own networks.
