Does bilingualism influence cognitive development?

Over the course of the semester, you are being asked to conduct a review of the research literature on a topic of personal interest (writers choice) within the purview of developmental psychology. To start the process you are to submit three questions that you would like to conduct further study on and write a research paper by the end of this semester, e.g., Does bilingualism influence cognitive development? For each question identify the variables of interest and describe the relationship e.g. correlation or causal between those variables.
