Does society have some role in making the Misfit the evil man he has become?

Look over the grandmother’s conversation with the Misfit, starting on p. 454, when the grandmother tells the Misfit, “I just know you’re a good man.. . . You’re not a bit common.”
Consider his response and his view of justice that plays out through the end of the story. Who is ultimately responsible for the Misfit’s desire to take pleasure in meanness? Does society have some role in making the Misfit the evil man he has become? And what does the grandmother ultimately see in him in the end that makes her deserve to be called “a good woman” for the first time?
