This lesson is for a Mock 3rd-grade math class of 15 students from a rural community, using a Florida Teaching Standard (MAFS.3.NF.1.1 Understand a fraction 1/b as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts; understand a fraction a/b as the quantity formed by a parts of size 1/b.)Select or design a lesson that will incorporate the teaching of higher-order thinking skills. Ensure that the lesson includes all of the core components of an effective lesson, including literacy strategies, and that it aligns with state content standards (F.S, NGSSS, industry, etc.).
