How do we move forward?
How do we move forward?
June 4, 2020 Comments Off on How do we move forward? Uncategorized Assignment-helpHow much difference a week can make! Look at all that is happening since we started the last module. People are in the streets, and personally, I have been thinking non-stop about some of the things Alexander wrote about, especially excessive police force used against people of color.(As a side note, yesterday–June 1st–was the anniversary of the destruction of a African American community in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Approximately 300 African Americans were murdered. Here’s a link.)For this discussion board, you are to choose one quote from either Chapter 4 or 5 and explain why you think it is relevant to today. Connect what we are reading to what is going on around us. The quote does not have to relate to what has been occurring/emerging over the last week; the quote could relate to just events or situations within the last year. You must include the quote in your post. You also need to give context to the quote, i.e., what does it mean within the context of the chapter you took it from? As you make connections to the quote, your post should be thoughtful and reflective; try to avoid knee-jerk responses that are simply rooted in emotion. Why is the quote significant? What does it mean to you, to society? If the quote is simply a statement of fact, how do we move on from that fact, or how do we make things better?I realize that some of you may be feeling raw from what you are seeing in the media or from your own personal experiences. I understand that; I acknowledge that. The events of the last week are not isolated, and they are not new for many people. Others are feeling overwhelmed or stunned or numb. How do we move forward? These, too, are things that you can write about as it relates to your chosen quote, if applicable of course.https://www.history.com/news/black-wall-street-tulsa-race-massacre
