Visit online the toy section of stores such as Walmart, Kohls, or Target, and then answer the following questions: What types of toys were promoted as being for boys? What types of toys were promoted as being for girls? If a toy, such as a bike, was available for both boys and girls, what differences did you notice between the two versions, if any? Were any toys presented in a gender-neutral manner? If so, please describe. What gender role messages does this information convey? How do you think gender roles may influence sexual scripts today? (Chapter 5) Please discuss what theories/theoretical perspectives might be applied to their observation. You may also discuss any similarities you shared or differences you encountered, and/or areas that have been resistant or welcoming to change over time.
