Step 1: Select an organization that will be the focus of your study. The organization may be an organization from one of your team members, a previously worked organization, or an organization that your team is interested in studying. Importantly, choose an organization that is currently challenged to create or sustain an inclusive workplace. You may choose a police department, a governmental agency, a small business, or a Fortune 500 company. Search widely, however, to choose a company that can benefit from your team’s research.
Step 2: Research the company and determine its challenges related to creating a diverse workforce. In other words, identify the barriers or challenges that may preclude efforts to create an inclusive culture. This research is critical to identifying those issues that must be addressed and resolved to create the type of organization most beneficial to its employees.
