Students are expected to complete a capstone prior to graduation.Your brief talk will focus on a policy and a recommended change. You will identify and briefly describe one social policy that is important to you. You want to provide awareness of a policy, and then promote and support a change. You are the champion of the cause. You will spend 2 – 3 minutesYou will be evaluated on professional identity, diversity and difference, and policy. MSW CAPSTONE PRESENTATIONThe Capstone presentation is a practicum-related learning experience designed to have youdemonstrate the knowledge and skills of advanced clinical social work to a case situation. Youare asked to present a clinical case situation from your advanced clinical placement to a panelof two faculty members and one field instructor.Using PowerPoint, you are asked to address the following areas:1. Present an overview of your in-depth psychosocial assessment and treatment plan.a. In the overview of the assessment, please include:• strengths and supports• risk factors• coping skills• the effects of oppression, discrimination, or historical trauma on the client(s)b. As one of your slides on assessment, present an eco-map of your client. (Note: Donot orally present a detailed assessment, but focus on specific areas: strengthsand supports, risk factors, etc.)2. Discuss the theory that guided your assessment and treatment and why that theory waschosen.3. Present an analysis of evidence-based methodologies informing your choice ofintervention strategies. Refer to and provide at least three (3) peer-reviewed researcharticles supporting your choice.4. Discuss the evaluation process for this intervention strategy and the intervention’soutcomes and overall effectiveness.5. Link your research-based knowledge on working with diverse populations into yourdiscussion of the assessment, intervention, and/or evaluation.6. Identify and briefly describe one social policy that impacts service delivery at youragency. What changes do you recommend should be made to this policy in order toenhance service delivery?7. Analyze the professional challenges that you encountered during this internship; includechallenges related to social work values and ethics.8. Select one Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competency and discuss howyou demonstrated attainment of that competency in your practicum.The presentation should not exceed twenty (20) minutes. Ten (10) additional minutes arereserved for feedback from the faculty. You will not receive your score at that time.• You must submit your final Capstone PowerPoint presentation, in-depth psychosocialassessment, treatment plan, and electronic versions of all three of your peer-reviewedresearch articles by the 6534 syllabus due date. You must write the assessment andtreatment plan. The assessment must be a narrative. No check-off lists or computer generated plans or assessments will be accepted. The presentation will be uploadedfor your presentation date and time, and the assessment, treatment plan, PowerPoint,and articles will be shared with the panel members prior to the presentation.• You must provide one (1) hardcopy of your PowerPoint presentation, assessment,treatment plan and evidence-based research articles to the panel on the date youpresent.• Dates for Capstone presentation will be randomly selected by students in SOW 6534.4.2019Students who fail to submit their Capstone presentation by the deadline will havepoints deducted from the final score.
