In this part of the project you research IT/IS topics in an organization of your choice and write a report about your findings using the frameworks learned in the course. In general, you need to: ???? Choose the organization that you will study. You can choose to study the organization in which you currently work, a company for which you worked in the past, or any other organization (it can be a small, medium or large size organization; a for, or a-not-for profit organization such as a school, a community theater, local government, etc.). ???? Write a paper in which you di????c???????????? ????he ????????ga????i????a????i???????????????? IT/IS strategy, management and governance. See more details below (for information about format of paper, citations and submission guidelines ???? see the end of this document) The paper should include the following 5 sections (120 out of 120 points towards project grade): (I) Overviewoftheorganization (II) Strategic assessment (III) IT governance assessment (IV)Assessment of IT issues and challenges (V) Reflection about the project OUTLINE of PAPER (3-6 pages; 120 points) (I) Overview of Organization (5 points): Provide a short descriptive overview of the organization you are studying. Include the following information: (II) Strategic assessment (35 points) current IS strategy, how well it integrates with the business and organizational strategies and how well both the organizational and IS strategies support the current business strategy. o Type of organization (e.g. for-profit service provider, manufacturer, not for profit) o Industry o Approximate Size (e.g. small business with less than 100 employees, business unit of a large corporation, etc.) o Location (e.g. is this a US company (or global)? Does it operate all over the US? Mainly on East coast? Does it have branches or manufacturing facilities in other countries (if, yes, indicate whether it is in Asia, Europe, Africa, etc.)? Are all (or most) of the customer/clients in the US?, etc.) Page 1 TASK #5 – Term Project Spring 2021 (III) IT Governance assessment (35 points) Describes how IT is governed in the organization: Address the following questions: a. Is the governance structure centralized or decentralized? Who makes the decisions about IT principles, architecture, infrastructure, business applications and IT investments (i.e, for each of the five major IT categories what is the respective archetype: Federal? IT Monarchy? Business Monarchy? Feudal? Anarchy?, etc.) Refer to governance models described in Chapter 9 in text book (i.e. IT governance frameworks discussed on pages 207-212; centralized vs. decentralized, IT governance archetypes, etc.) and any other relevant information in the text (e.g. concepts from chapter 9). b. To what extent does IT impact the organization’s strategy and operations? Refer to IT Strategic Impact Grid in the article: “IT and the board of directors”. Are the above governance structures aligned with the business objectives / Strategy? if not, what/how would you change governance structure(s) (IV) Assessment of IT issues and challenges (35 points) a. In your opinion, what are the biggest IT challenges/issues that the organization currently faces? b. If you were to consult the CEO (or CIO), how would you recommend to resolve the issue(s) you identified? (V) Reflection about the project (10 points): Write a brief reflection about the project (1-3 paragraphs). For example: what part of the project contributed the most to your learning experience? In what way?
