Anonymous shares her feelings about how when she was in treatment it felt like they wanted her to be perfect and making it seem like it was so easy to eat three meals in a day but in her head it was extremely difficult and made her feel like a failure and that’s when she started to mask her pain by cutting herself, she explained that she needed to start working on taking the steps the counselor asked her if she knew any triggers she had and her her trigger was a scale. Another patient was asking for help on speaking about her eating disorder to her family because she feels like they don’t understand that she can’t just eat. The counselor acknowledged her that it is difficult because of her having to be vulnerable but she needs to try to find what her safe place is and be brave if this is something that is bothering her within. Patient explains that she has started talking to a counselor. So the counselor running the meeting explain to her that she could probably ask the counselor if she could do an over the phone session with her and her family so she could help guide her and provide support. Another member offered the previous member some support she explained that this is her first time of the eating disorder meeting but she’s previously had multiple AA meetings she’s started being inpatient and 15 years old For alcohol she states that sometimes we don’t see that we are the ones that caused the block for families. Like in her case her ex want to speak about her eating disorder but never felt safe to bring it up ask explained he needed her to tell him what were his boundaries and where and what she needed help with. So the member offers open communication that she never spoke up and became resentful that they didn’t want to say anything to help her but reality she wasn’t seeing what she needed.
