Should the Federal Government privatize government functions?

there have been some attempts to deal with the inefficiency and lack of productivity in some areas of such a large bureaucracy as the US Federal Government. Some experts argue that we should consider privatizing some government functions, like mail services and medicare, to deal with these issues. Should the Federal Government privatize government functions? Why or why not?
