One of the prevalent infectious illnesses in the pre-Covid-19 developing world has been tuberculosis (TB). In the Chicago Tribune, Mandavilli (2020) discusses the plight of TB patients and those at risk in these countries.The author notes that the age of Covid-19 has devastated existing efforts on TB control and treatment. One could analyze this article further as per the SDG and epidemiologic triad as linked to TB. The article fails to mention the agent responsible for TB in an explicit manner, which in this case is mycobacterium tuberculosis. This element is an acidic-fact aerobic rod characteristic of slow reproduction and hypersensitivity to heat and UV lights.Nonetheless, there is the mention of a clinical manifestation indicative of the illness in the host. The typical symptoms outlined includes painful cough, SOB, malaise, and fever. These elements means that TB exists as a respiratory illness, with the ability of affecting ones’ kidneys, lymph nodes, and intestines. There also exist significant mention of humans as the hosts of TB. The transmission mode is also visible in the explanation that TB remains largely airborne.Before Covid-19, TB was the biggest infectious disease in the developing world, killing about 1.5 million people on an annual basis.
