Media brings more positive sides in the 21st century.Rationale● Native Americans are known as indigenous Americans, who live in the United States with a rich history and culture. They have been in the U.S for more than ten thousands years, and their figures are still enigmatic in lots of people’s minds. In fact, through history, their living status is miserable. In 1830, with the publication of the Indian Removal Act,​ Native Americans were forced to move to the west of the Mississippi River​. During this Journey, relocated people suffered from disease and starvation, and approximately 4,000 died. Their population decreased dramatically, and their culture and spiritual practices were on the verge of extinction. At that time, the media did not have that many different forms. With the less exposure of their culture and lifestyles in public, people outside the reservation have little understanding of them, increasing the discrimination and continuously putting the wrong tags on them​. Moreover, many aspects of their religions and ceremonies were prohibited by the law. I want to show audiences what they have experienced and what is the truth about them, especially about Cherokees,​ who are the main relocating tribe of Native Americans. Later on, the American Indian Religious Freedom Act in 1978 ​eliminated the interference​ of Native Americans’ practices based on the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. They were able to acquire their freedom to believe in and exercise their traditional religious rights and cultural practices, such as holding ceremonies and worshiping. In addition, they took back their leadership of managing their reservations and got federal recognition of their status in the U.S. Even with the help of the federal government, the prejudice of Native Americans still existed because the mediums of spreading these information out are still limited. I thought the media also played an important role in making their voices out.
