Case Scenario – Apply Your Learning #1: Carole Laurin
Week 1
Meet your new patient, Carole Laurin. She is a 44-year-old elementary school teacher, married, with two children age 17 and 8. She is outgoing and energetic and exercises regularly. One week ago she suffered a right cerebrovascular accident (CVA) causing left-sided hemiplegia, from below her eye to the tip of her toes. Carole Laurin was admitted to acute care for one week before being transferred and admitted to your rehabilitation unit this morning. You complete the nursing admission interview and must now consider the plan of care for Carole Laurin.
