Write a Movie Report on “Thank You For the Rain”
Many of the movies are open-ended — you won’t find specific prompts below. You’ll just free-write about how this connects to what you learned in class. Some general questions you may want to consider: Was any of this information new to you? How did the filmmaker present the issue? Whose voices are heard? Are there cases where “experts” are speaking for others (for example, an academic speaking about a marginalized community instead of the audience hearing from members of the community itself)? Are there pieces of what we learned in class that were missing or downplayed in the film?
Each response should be no shorter than 750 words total (not counting the words in the questions themselves). The easiest way to submit your work is by simply copying and pasting it into an email. Or you can email me a Word or PDF attachment. Please do not send me attachments in the .pages format.

(English and Kikamba) Five years ago Kisilu, a Kenyan farmer, started to use his camera to capture the life of his family, his village and the damages of climate change. When a violent storm throws him and a Norwegian filmmaker together we see him transform from a father, to community leader to an activist on the global stage.
On one hand, it might seem like Kisilu’s sacrifices are in vain. The US (under the Trump administration) pulled out of the Paris Accord. His neighbors are not excited about planting trees. What would you say to Kisilu to encourage him to continue his fight against climate change?
