Write a paper explore and assess competing narratives surrounding an event or issue in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. First, you will select a primary source related to any aspect of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The document you select must come from a reputable resource database (see below for further document specifications). Next, you will select one of the assigned primary sources (those listed on the syllabus) that presents a narrative that challenges, competes with, or completely counters the one present in the primary source you selected. Finally, you will put the two primary sources into historical context and study them in detail for what they reveal about the conflict. Your thesis (argument) should analyze what we learn about the larger parameters of the Arab-Israeli conflict from the document itself and from putting it into conversation with another document that presents a different view. To aid your analysis of the primary sources, your paper must also draw from secondary sources (see below for details). Creativity is encouraged in the selection, contextualization, and analysis of your primary source. Primary Sources: The primary source, or sources, you select can come from any period between 1850 and 2015 as long as the source comes from a reputable source base. The source can be in a language other than English, you just need to be fluent in that language (e.g. able to translate from that language into English). You are not limited to text-based sources. For example, the primary source you select may be a documentary. See below for primary source document specifications. Your source may be fiction or non-fiction.( I am attaching primary sources in the screenshot you have to pick one of them, all other sources you can pick on your own)Secondary Sources: In addition to using primary sources, your paper needs to engage at least three of the assigned secondary source readings. The textbook counts as a secondary source. You may draw on additional secondary sources to substantiate your argument.Structure: Your paper should have a clear introduction that introduces a thesis statement. You should provide brief summaries of both primary sources before diving into your analysis. Your paper should draw precise evidence from the primary and secondary literature to substantiate your argument. While you need to synthesize secondary sources, you must come up with an original argument; your essay should not be a string of mini-book reviews of the secondary sources or brief reports of the primary source(s). When it is necessary to summarize a book or an article, do so succinctly and in service of your argument. Use the writings of other scholars to bolster your own opinion, but do not rely on them alone. Avoid rote summary of events. Instead, utilize specific factual information to illustrate, substantiate, or challenge ideas. A conclusion should bring the different elements of your essay together.
