Purpose: This assignment provides student-colleagues with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the community intervention programs available in the community that addresses a specific issue among at-risk youth. This assignment affords student-colleagues a practical opportunity to increase and apply their knowledge of the policy issues around, or the empirical research on prevention, and treatment of at-risk youth. This assignment provides students with an opportunity to develop and share practical knowledge and skills that will assist them in their practice in any setting that serves children, youth and families facing adversity.In terms of specific learning outcomes, upon completion of this assignment students will: •Increase their knowledge of assessment and intervention approaches•Increase their ability to consume published research •Further their critical thinking abilities about policy-related issues•Develop skills in specifying learning objectives•Increase skills in developing materials for professional meetings/presentationsDescription: Student-colleagues will be assigned to A target population of youth who are at risk (e.g. juvenile delinquency, gangs, depression, gender differences, or sexual orientation). Students will create a brochure by finding evidenced based programs and community interventions that serve the assigned target population. Students will write a one-page reflection discussing the process of finding resources including any difficulties encountered. Students will attach a list of references to the reflection paper. The Community Resources Brochure should include the following information:1.Title (Be creative)- Identify the target population 2.Brief description of the problem3.Evidenced Based Interventions (EBP)- Identify and briefly describe at least 3-5 interventions (e.g. cognitive – behavioral treatment, suicide intervention, positive peer culture, family intervention, etc.) utilized to treat your target population.4.Community Resources Available- Identify and briefly describe at least 3-5 community programs that include the EBP interventions listed above and is available that could strengthen your community by addressing your re-occurring client problem.5.Identify types of services being offered in the community to address your target population. – Helpful websites include: https://www.youth.gov/ ; https://www.samhsa.gov/nrepp; https://www.ojjdp.gov/mpg/
