Is this ethical? “Succession planning is a business strategy that has recently gained attention in the healthcare literature, primarily because of nursing shortage concerns and the demand for retaining knowledgeable personnel to meet organizational needs” (Carriere, Muise, Cummings, & Newburn-Cook, 2009, p. 548). Managers and leaders use succession planning as a tool in their recruitment, retention, mentoring, and administration activities, as well as a tool to provide insights for future development of healthcare succession planning frameworks.
