There are four Gospel stories that tell about the life and ministry of Jesus. Mark is the shortest of the four. After a careful reading of the book of Mark in the Bible, write a minimum a well-developed paragraph for each of the following questions. This should be developed as a thoughtful discussion in essay form, not simply answering each question. Be sure to include an introduction and conclusion to the essay. What does it mean to make the confession that Jesus is the Son of God? In what sense is the incident at Caesarea Philippi (Mark 8:27–38) a turning point in the life of the disciples? Is Mark’s portrait of the disciples encouraging or discouraging? Explain your response. Put yourself in Peter’s shoes. If Jesus were to ask you, “Who do YOU say that I am?”… how would you respond. At this point in your spiritual journey, who is Jesus to you?
