Sushi in Japan is more like what we know as sashimi. and very rarely do you ever see sushi in the form of a roll. A specific sushi roll to focus on would be the California roll. The general belief is that it is rolled “inside out” because Americans weren’t accustomed to eating nori, and the mere sight of it made sushi rolls unappealing. Rolling it inside out hid the nori.
